Common Issues That Arise During Air Conditioning Peak Season
Like every other technical system, issues are bound to arise when the Air Conditioning is overworked. This mostly happens during the Summer, when ultimate cooling is needed in residential homes. This is the time of the year when AC systems tend to break down or fail altogether, leaving families without much needed cooling.
When you suspect the need for your Air Conditioning service, it’s always wise to first check for the common identifiable problems. Some of them can sometimes be easily solvable by you. It will also serve to give the service technicians a good description of the issue before they get to the house, thus enabling them to be well prepared. No matter how big or small the issue; it shouldn’t be ignored because otherwise you are looking at a very long and hot summer in the heat.
If your system is not providing sufficient cooling, first check for the following issues that are often overlooked before calling an Orlando air conditioning service technician.
Check to make sure that the AC system is not turned off.
Keep all the windows in your home closed.
All vents should be open.
Make sure that while the air conditioner is running, the humidifier remains off.
In case you have performed all the above checks and there are still problems with the cooling system, any of the following could be the issue.
Problem: The AC is Not Running
If the system is set “On” and still doesn’t run, the problem could be the thermostat setting and the filter. First of all, you need to check whether the thermostat is set to “Cool.” If not, rectify that. The setting needs to be lower than the outdoor air temperature. Dirty filters can restrict flow of air, which may eventually shut the AC down. Hence, you need to make sure that the filters are always clean.
Problem: The AC System Cycles On and Off Regularly
This could be as a result of placing the thermostat in a place that leaves it in direct sunlight. This alters the temperature reading especially during the day thus triggering the Air Conditioning to cycle on and off. Other causes of regular cycling of the system include using the wrong size of system in your home, a leaking refrigerant and buildup of ice on coils.
Problem: The AC System is Not Cooling As Effectively as Other Summers
Again, the problem could be that the filters are not clean. Debris on the outside unit will also affect how effective the AC will cool the house. A refrigerant leak can also cause inefficiency of the AC. It’s however recommended that homeowners allow this check to be done by the professionals as there could be underlying issues of wear and tear of the parts.
Problem: The AC System is Noisy
This could be caused by something as simple as loose parts. Go through the entire system and if you identify any loose parts, tighten them. If the problem persists, an electrical issue or a blowing motor could be the culprit.
There will be definitely small issues that you can fix yourself. If you can’t, it’s always better to leave the big Air Conditioning problems to the professionals at Budget Air Supply. We just don’t sell parts and complete units… we also have Orlando licensed air conditioning technicians who can help with air conditioning service.
